Experience

  • Research Interests

I am eager to expose the most controversial and urgent social issues in my research. My research projects heavily focus on the underserved and underrepresented groups. As a social science researcher, I aim to provide theoretical and practical implications to media practitioners, policy makers, scientists, and company shareholders.

  • Undergraduate Teaching

I teach classes in writing, journalism practicum, media literacy, presentational speaking, and media law and ethics at Baldwin Wallace University. Previously, I taught Writing for the Digital Media (JMM108), Intercultural Communication (COS343), Interpersonal Communication (COS112), Persuasion (COS472), and Communication Theory (COS220) at the University of Miami.

  • Professional Journalism

I have a broadcast journalism background and later shift my career focus to print journalism and digital media. Prior to my PhD program, I was an English-language journalist covering fashion and auto finance news in New York City. I have written and published approximately 120 news articles on multiple media platforms. I am proud to consider myself a one-woman band, and I enjoy being a multitasker in the newsroom.

  • Student Media

I was the faculty advisor to The Exponent, a student-run newspaper at Baldwin Wallace University serving the campus community as well as Berea, OH. I started my journalism career since I was a freshman at UMSoC, working as a copy editor for The Miami Hurricane (an award-winning, student-run newspaper), on-camera reporter for UMTV (an award-winning, student-run TV network), and contributing writer for Her Campus.
